Legal Analysis and Pre-Filing Review
A written answer to a hard question of law
These engagements produce a written answer to a specific legal question. Typical engagements include a pre-suit memorandum on whether a claim is worth bringing, an assessment of an unsettled question on which the authorities pull in different directions, an opinion on the strength of a defense before it is asserted, and a written evaluation of exposure in a live dispute.
A cross-check before you file
When the stakes are high and a mistake cannot be risked, a client with an unlimited budget may reasonably hire the most expensive firm in the country. That client should also hire Showalter PLLC to check the work. The best lawyers in the country are fallible human beings, and every firm now uses AI; the question is whether it uses AI well.
We run the other firm’s brief through the same workflows we use on our own filings. Every citation is matched against the legal databases. Every authority is tested against the proposition it is cited for. The arguments are canvassed for anything the brief leaves unmade. Most of the time, our answer is that the brief is ready to file. Sometimes we flag a few points worth considering before it goes out. The review costs a small fraction of the brief itself. On a matter that cannot go wrong, no one should file without it.
How AI raises quality
With robots on the team, we catch mistakes, find obscure cases, and canvass the arguments to a degree that was impossible five years ago. AI does not merely lower cost; it lets a senior lawyer test an argument against every authority that bears on it before the client relies on the answer.
